Academy Update: Signing Time Classes Boost Early Literacy

Signing Time Academy Logo

Signing Time Instructors are your partners on the road to reading.

Listening to a child sound out a word or read a book for the first time is truly awe-inspiring.  As parents and teachers, we understand that learning to read just doesn’t happen overnight. There’s a lot of work involved! Signing Time Instructors are here to help you in the important work of raising a reader – and here’s how:

  • Signing Time classes build vocabulary
In every Signing Time class, children are exposed to words, phrases and concepts that help build a strong vocabulary, which is critical to success in reading. Each key word is repeated several times and is connected to real-life experiences to enhance understanding.
  • Signing Time classes use multi-sensory learning
In every Signing Time class, children get to see the word, hear the word, say the word, and sign the word. They even sing the word, creating a deeper level of understanding.
  • Signing Time Instructors make learning fun
Watch your child signing the ABCs with a big smile on her face and you’ll know that she is having so much fun that she’s completely unaware she is working toward becoming a reader!

This fall as the kids head back to school, take a moment to find your local Signing Time Instructor and enroll in a class.  You’ll be glad you did.

    Suzanne,

All of the Signing Time Volumes are great. I would recommend Baby Signing Time for infants and toddlers and Signing Time Series 1 for older children and adults. You can check them out at http://www.signingtime.com/shop
