Crab in Sign Language
Learn how to sign crab in ASL (American Sign Language) and enjoy (but don’t touch!) this fun ocean creature!
1. Bring both hands up about chest height, held away from your body, with elbows tucked into your sides.
2. With both hands, touch pointer and middle fingers to the thumb a couple of times, keeping your ring and pinky fingers tucked in.
3. This sign looks like you are showing the crab’s claws. Use this visual to help you remember the sign.
Teaching Tips – to learn how to sign crab in ASL
- Play in early childhood education is so important! Pretend to be crabs together! How does a crab move? What does a crab (gently) pinch? Sign crab as you go!
- There is a lot to learn about crabs! Why do they have a shell? What if they grow out of their shell? Where do they live? Visit the library to find some books that help you learn all about this fascinating water creature.
