Teaching Tips – to learn how to sign drink in ASL

  • Signing with baby is fun and easy if you start with a few key signs that you can use often. Drink is one of them. Each time you offer a drink, model the sign. As the child gets older, offer her a choice of what to drink and help her practice the sign as she chooses.
  • Let slightly older child play waiter! Collect a variety of drinks (milk, water, juice, seltzer, etc.) and let him offer the choices to a “customer”, then return to deliver the special drink. Everyone practice the sign as you play!
