Pink in Sign Language

Learn how to sign pink – a very pretty (and popular!) color.

1. First make the letter P (hold out your middle and pointer finger out and tuck in your ring and pinky finger, bend the middle finger down to rest on the tip of your thumb. The wrist is also bent forward so fingers are pointing down)
2. With the hand in the P-shape, touch the middle finger on the thumb and then pull it down an inch or so.
3. Lips are often pink! Use this visual to help you remember the sign.

Teaching Tips:

  • Choose a variety of crayons for your child to choose from, including a pink one. Encourage her to create a beautiful picture and then tell you about (and sign!) the colors she used.
  • Teaching sign language along with basic skills helps facilitate learning! Teach the sign for pink, etc. as children are learning their colors. Doing so will add a visual and tactile layer to the learning, making retention easier.
