Purple in Sign Language
Learn how to sign purple. This color can be found in all sorts of places!
1. First sign the letter P ((Hold out your middle and pointer finger out and tuck in your ring and pinky finger, bend the middle finger down to rest on the tip of your thumb. The wrist is also bent forward so fingers are pointing down)
2. Then shake the letter!
3. P is for purple! Use this cue to help you remember the sign.
Teaching Tips:
- Get out some purple paint. What can you make? A plum? An eggplant? A purple puppy? Be silly or serious – but have fun with the color and practice the sign!
- Crafts for children are a great way to reinforce concepts of colors. What other purple items can you create with – this time working in three dimensional? (tissue paper, pipe cleaners, stickers, etc.)
