Teaching Tips – to learn how to sign remember in ASL

  • Play a little remembering game. Choose a special event or time and start out with, “I remember when our family _______!” Then ask your child to say the same sentence and finish with something she remembers. Take turns going back and forth until you’re ready to choose a new special time to remember! Sign remember each time you say the starter sentence.
  • Learn sign language fast by practicing so you remember! Pick a category, such as food, clothes, feelings, etc. Say, “I remember how to sign _______!” Sign the word remember and the sign you are choosing to practice. Then have the other person remember and sign another word in the same category. You might say, “I remember how to sign apple!” and then the other person could say, “I remember how to sign grape!” and so on.
