V in Sign Language

Learn how to sign the letter V.

1. Hold one hand up, palm facing out. Extend the pointer and middle finger out into a V-shape and tuck the rest of the fingers into the palm.
2. This sign looks just like the letter it represents. It’s easy to remember if you picture a V!

Teaching Tips:

  • Create an art activity for kids that will teach this letter. V is for volcano! Draw a big volcano. Make the lava by drawing lots of Vs in red! Sign V as you create!
  • The sign for this letter looks exactly like the letter itself. Look around for the letter V in print. Then take your hand and lay it over the letter while making the sign.
