I work (as a bagger) at a local supermarket in my town and a deaf couple comes in every so often. Just curious! :)

Not sure how regional, but here goes:
chips: sign POTATO with CHIP on the mouth

cupcake- a little bigger than COOKIE, a little bit smaller than CAKE. I sometimes will ask: YOU WANT CAKE, then classifier which looks like the PLATE sign, OR CAKE, then make six small areas like a cupcake pan (okay, yes, I make big cupcakes)

doughnuts-Have seen English version where you use D on each hand and do a circle shape in front of your body, palm orientation-downward. But typically, doughnuts come up in a discussion because we've just seen them or a shop and then we draw the shape and ask if you wanna stop and get a few pounds.

Yes... and sometimes my husband will sign C-U-P CAKE.

LOL... Usually I'm caught by the reminders of the existance of Cheesecake! At least your doughnuts are a reasonable breakfast choice. :p

What i do is go to google and type asl practice and hit

alphabet appears. a little lady in the far left
hand side will show you how to sign the word.
