Signs for different states or places.
Merilee had a very helpful list posted on the yahoo group maybe she will share it with us here. It was post #5460

I know Texas is an X handshape, in the space in front of the bdy, goes across and down like the outline of the panhandle.

And, FYI, San Antonio is a G handshape, pointed to the corner of your mouth. Why? According to my ASl teacher, because long ago some Deaf person named Greg lived here!

Here is the list from the yahoo group that Merilee posted:

Alaska: Right hand A starts with thumb next to left eye and moves in
a half circle across head, changing to a 5 hand. (like the fur hoods
on their coats).
Hawaii: BEAUTIFUL with an H
Washington: W starts on shoulder (palm facing you) then moves out,
bouncing twice.
Oregon: same as Washington but with an O.
California: GOLD (index finger on earlobe, down a few inches,
changes to Y, shake like YELLOW).
Idaho: POTATO
Utah: U brushes cheek twice in downward motion.
Nevada: NEV
Arizona: Thumb of A hand brushes downward on one side of chin, moves
over to other side of chin and brushes down again.
New Mexico: NM
Montana: Both M hands draw a M in the air. Palms out
Wyoming: both W hands with palms out and index fingers touching move
down, changing to Ys
Colorado: COLOR + D+O or right hand C "draws" mountains on left arm.
North Dakota: ND
South Dakota: SD
Nebraska: NEB
Kansas: KS
Oklahoma: OK
Texas: X hand moves in upside down L shape (across then down)
Louisiana: LA
Arkansas: ARK
Missouri: MO
Iowa: IOWA
