My 2 year old has been loving the BST for just 2 months and has learned all the signs and uses them daily. So, of course I want to buy more! I am wondering if I start with ST volume 1 will most of it be a repeat? If so, what volume would you recomend for after BST? Is it really best to go through them in order because the signs build on those learned in previous episodes?

One other factor is that I also have an 8 month old who is loving watching but not signing yet. If I move away from the BST too quickly will she be left behind a bit?

Thanks for any ideas!

BST wasn't available when Brady was first learning, so we used volumes 1 and 2 of reg. ST. The cool thing from this is - Brady can now recognized the words - we found one day when the sound was off, the word would come up on the screen and he would sign it - so not only does he know how to sign, he can recognize some sight words too :) Rachel teaches our kids all sorts of things :) There are different songs on the ST volumes that I'm sure your kids would both love! Volume 3 is sooo fun, because it has the silly pizza song, and 4-6 teach sooo many things. Brady learned all his colors and letters from these volumes :)

You could alternate the two series, and I do think your baby would also love the reg. ST, I know my son did :) So - basically - with all my ramblings, I say go for them all - they each have something to offer and it's all good!

When my kids started watching ST, BST was not out yet.... My youngest, Gavin, at that time was 11 months old and Keanu was 3..... Keanu sat and watched all six ST videos straight through and knew every sign when they were all over.... Gavin picked up the signs so fast that I was amazed.... He knows so many... I have not sat down to count them all.... But he basically learned from the original ST six volumes... I think it's a great idea to alternate..... Keeps up the variety....

We started out with ST 1 ... all of them actually, before we got BST. Even though he's mostly into BST right now, he has popped his ol' ST 1 & 2 in. I don't think you necessarily need to build your set up sequentially~ and personally, I would have loved to have had vol. 5 (ABC's) early on with William.

What ever one you decide to get next, you can't go wrong!

The series doen't really build upon itself, meaning you do NOT need to learn all of Volume 1 before you can move onto Volume 2, and so forth. I would just read through the DVD descriptions and decide which one seems right for your toddler (my opinion is that "colors" is a great place to start). Also, BST is great, but your baby will love the original series as well. HTH!
