custom avatars

I noticed that the mods have custom avatars. I'd suggest that lots of us would love to put in pics of us and/or our kids for our own avatars. I'm on a family planning/pregnancy/parenting board, and we are able to make our own avis. It certainly lends a lot of personality to the boards, seeing all the different pics! Just a thought!

I'm loving the new forum (much better than the Yahoo! group, personally), so this is not a complaint in the least!!! Just a thought! ;)

Watch for some cool avatars that will give recognition to our long time yahoo-ers. As well as avatars you can earn by posting!

How will it be determined who qualifies as a "long time yahoo-er"? Also, does this mean that custom avatars will not be an option?

I've added a few avatars...the first few are available after you post 1 time...the next few are available to the folks who post 25 times or more...and the next set for 50 or more posts...If anyone has some suggestions on avatars for 100 or more posts let me know

Thanks for your replies. I understand that there'll be more avatars available as we post more, and I think it's great to have some available like that. But I was just hoping we could upload a pic of our kiddos or ourselves to make as our avatar, like the mods have been able to...

Not all the Mods have been able to. I am still trying to figure out how to do it. I got a picture in my sig line but for some reason can't get the avatar to work. I don't think the custom avatars are limited to mods, are they? I think the site is just picky about where the pic is loaded from. But like I said I am still trying to figure it out. I will let you know if/when I do. :D

Not only would it be fun for each of us, it would also be great for putting a face to who is speaking at the beginning of a post. And if folks had custom avatars, they could put the photos their rather than in the signature. The photos in the signatures are great, but they are so big you often only get two or three posts per page!

So I think this would be a great change if we could all get custom avatars.

Some of us (like me) would need a tutorial to make it happen after the forum allowed it.

click on USER CP in the red bar at the top of the page. Click on EDIT OPTIONS and scroll down to THREAD DISPLAY OPTIONS and in the NUMBER OF POSTS TO SHOW PER PAGE you can select to see 5, 10, 20, 30, or 40 post per page.

Also, under edit options, you can choose to turn off signatures, attachments, or images. This would help you flip through messages without all the extra stuff (and your computer will process the pages faster).

That's what I think!

I like to see the pictures (so I didn't turn off the signature-view), but not that big - especially because you see it again and again.

Who decides about the avatar-settings? Whom must we flatter? ;)

If people made their pictures a thumbnail size it would be smaller and easier for people to scroll through the posts.
