The following is from an email I received titled "Protest the FCC's decision on Closed Captioning Waivers!"

I was quite shocked when I read this. Although the date has passed, I felt that the information should still be posted. I didn't receive this email until the day before this meeting.

Protest Against the FCC!

8:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2006

445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C.
(near Smithsonian Metro Station - Exit Independence Avenue)

Last week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved almost 300
requests for new TV programs to be shown without closed captions. Hundreds more
programs could be excused from the rule that requires closed captioning. For
more information, see http://www.nad.org/fccprotest and
www.nad.org/fccclosedcaptioningdecisions.

The FCC is having an "open meeting" on Tuesday, September 26, at 9:30 a.m.
Please arrive at 8:30 a.m., and get into the FCC open meeting. A visible
presence is the goal.

FCC security requires an ID with a photo such as driver's license to get into
the meeting area..

If you can, bring paper signs or posters . . . no stick pickets. Sample signs:

Save TV Closed Captioning!

No More Excuses. No More Exemptions.

Support Closed Captioning

We Demand Closed Captioning!

We will not be silenced!

Closed Captioning = Equal Access

Closed Captioning - not too difficult / not too expensive

Please forward this message and tell other people about this protest against the
FCC.

Wouldn't getting rid of closed captions violate the ADA? I'm sure that anyone making TV shows has more than 15 employees.
