I have to say that I like how much my daughter loves her ST videos, but I'm kinda on overload. She watches them constantly and while I dont' mind, some days I just wish she would let me shut off the TV. She doesn't just sit and watch them don't get me wrong...she colors, plays with her doll, but it's all with the background of ST.

Any suggestions?

I would give her a limit of how many videos (ST or otherwise) she is allowed to watch in a day and then stick with it. If she's used to having the TV in the background all day, she may resist at first. Just be firm and consistent. That's my two cents. :)

I do as suggested above with my two little ones. They know the rule is only one video per day. Then if I ever decide to let them watch an extra one, they think they are so lucky. And I try to phrase it that "The rule is..." so they don't just get mad at me for saying they can only watch one a day. If they ask for a second, I remind them of the rule and don't give in (otherwise they might start all kinds of begging and pleading each time they're done watching their first one).

We also talk about how watching too much t.v. and having too much noise all the time isn't good for our brains and our health and how we should be doing other things that don't include the t.v. or the computer.

Good luck!! Transitions and changes in routine can be so difficult!!

I'm trying to limit videos to specific times. Right now, it's one in the early afternoon, as sort of a wind-down before nap. Now, if Alli's really cranky because of teething or because her ears are bugging her, we may watch more that day, but I'm really trying to avoid the constant soundtrack in the background.

I guess you could try to twist it around to be a positive situation. I mean, if your child is going to have something on constantly, wouldn't you rather listen to the wonderful ST! songs than a thousand verses of "Get Ready to Wiggle"?

Side note: I actually really like the Wiggles, but I can't listen to them over and over and over and over...

That is definately a great way to look at it. Corbin usually watches ST twice a day. He wakes up from his nap first and watches ST to transition, then the girls wake up and get mad because Corbin got to watch it, so we watch it again, lol.

I think one of the best things about ST is that I can, and often do, have it on a continuous loop in the background for a few hours--and it doesn't make me crazy!!!

I will say, though, it was easier to do with the first three--the second three have the 'about ST' bit with Rachel at the end automatically, and I get tired of hearing that over and over and over--I wish I could suppress it while looping the rest.
