When one of my twins signs something I try to go and get the item or at least a picture of it. This encourages them to sign and reinforces the connection between the sign and its meaning.

Two weeks ago my mom left town to help my sister with her newborn twins in North Carolina. Whenever "Mom has a Mom" comes on in BST Alexandria starts signing "Grandma," and she started getting upset when I did not go and get Grandma. A picture did not work. We live about 20 miles away from Grandma, and we see her about 3 times (or more) each week. I think it will make Grandma smile to know that she was missed. :)

Awww, how sweet :) Do they ever do phone calls? Probably wouldn't work any more than the photo.

My daughter now brings me the phone & tells me to call Daddy at work, Way-co (which is what she calls Grandma, go figure), Pa-Pa (Grandpa), Aunt Dawn, etc. when she goes potty. I'm sure it makes for interesting answering machine messages when they're not home :p

That's too cute. And it reminds me...

My kids grandparents live in California and Texas. Everytime they would come or leave, we would have go to the airport. We'd say good-bye and tell the kids that Gma and Gpa got on the airplane to go home. Apparently, poor little Carter (when he was only two) thought that his g-parents lived ON the airplane. It took us quite a while before we realized why he was signing "want airplane" so much. And it took us even longer to convince him that they actually had a home like us.

LOL! How funny!! It is amazing the 'connections' kids come up with.
