I'd be interested in starting or helping to start a monthly group. My church I'm certain would be willing to let us use their children's space. Our church family has many members that are deaf/ part of the deaf community. I'd estimate that 50% of our church pastoral staff signs fluently! :D
Anyone want to help organize? Or just participate?

Very cool!! Wish we lived closer, I would DEFINITELY participate.
An idea: print something to hand out at to people at the ST! show. Even if you're not specifically coordinating, it could be as simple as information to direct them to this playgroup thread. Or and email address, or set up a first playgroup for folks to try (be sure that it is somewhere public, I'd suggest).
So excited for you and the families in your area! That will be soo cool!

Thanks for the ideas... I like the idea of preparing a flyer for the show. Thanks!
We have a "school" here for parents to learn to sign with their babies, but it costs $$$. :( I would like to extend this idea to other parents and kids for whom $$$ might be an issue.

Okay, Indy.... Here's an update.
I checked with my church and they are more than happy to allow us to use their space including access to a DVD player. Now I just need to figure out logistics and timing, etc...
Our church is in the middle of relocating to Fountain Square area, so the group can't really begin until April. April 1 is the day the church is having the first service in the new building. Anyone out there have any input for what day of the week or time they'd be able to "come and play......" ;)

I am so excited to do this! The only days of the week I work are Wed. & Fri. Are we thinking daytime? Let me know what else you find out and if you need ANY help with anything! Ella and I are so looking forward to it!

I am not sure if we're thinking through the week or maybe on a weekend. Probably during the week to start out. If we find there is enough interest in a weekend meet-up too, well.. yay! :D
You can help me right now by sending out the message that it's going to be happening. Start to ask your friends if they would participate and when would be a good time. Wednesdays and Fridays are pretty much out for me too due to a playgroup that meets at my house and another playgroup plus La Leche League.

I definitely will, I know my playgroup has some mom's that are signing or interested in finding out more about it. I'll let them know! Too fun! Can't wait! Thanks again! :)

There is an indy signing time play group. We also do signing story times. If anyone is interested you can email me privately at beaucepawssd@yahoo.com
you can also go to yahoo groups and search for Indy signing time.
We meet usually on the east side or north east side of Indy. Sometimes we meet at the childrens museum.

I am a member of that group! I love all of your great ideas, but I live way down on the southside near Greenwood and it is so far for us to get to the northside, and Ella does not like to ride in the car :( I would like have this newer group branch off from that for people in central and southside indianapolis, that can't make it. I know it would be a huge help for us! But it would be really nice to keep in contact to share ideas and such on what works and activites for the playgroups! :) You guys are great!!

Did we ever get anything together for a playgroup? I never heard anything and I'd love to still do this if its a possibility!
