Hello Signing Time friends!
I began working for Two Little Hands a month ago, and one of my current projects is increasing our presence in public libraries. Overall, we are doing fairly well in this area. However, if your local library doesn't carry Signing Time, I would love it if you could put in a request for it! Your library most likely has an online catalog, and in a few seconds you can find out if Signing Time is there.
Anyone in the Detroit area out there? The Detroit Public Library System is one of the largest in the country, and doesn't carry Signing Time in any of their branches! Let's change that!

Anyone using Los Angeles County (not LA City) libraries? All they have in their catalog is Practice Time. With 50 branches to serve, they need some Signing Time, don't you think?

What about your library? Hmmm?
Thanks!

Our branch here in Stamford, CT only has vol. 1, 2, and 3.
I'll see what I can do to see if they can get more...

The library in Fort Wayne, IN, had only a few of the volumes. I told them about the missing volumes and also about Baby Signing Time, and everything is now available. But there is only one set for the city and we have many branch libraries. I've now told them that the wait is too long - they need to order more sets! The wait for a volume can take up to 3-4 months - way too long! I was told that the request would be put up for approval.

When I first looked into ST ours didnt. They now have multiple copies of all 17 dvds. I still think they need more copies though, there is a wait for them.
Since they are classified as children's, there are no late fees so people tend to keep them out longer than they should.

We live in a very small town. Our library doesn't have the dvds, but they are able to get them through interlibrary loan from the bigger libraries in our area. It's how I found out how wonderful ST is!

What?!?!? Seriously??
Our videos must be back in four days and there are most certainly late fees. You can renew them online up to twice, so essentially, you can have it for a week and a half, but if you forget and they are late (or you run out of renewals and they are late)... a per day fee.
Why else would anyone return the materials? Hmmm...

At my library they are considered educational so they can be out for 21 days and have 1 renewal. But there definately is a late fee. I think I had used every renewal on every family members library card. I even got the baby a library card!!
I am so happy now that I own all the videos!! remembering the renewal date was getting to me.

Wow...our children's materials get fined just like everything else.
(And off-topic, I love your blog! My sister-in-law has triplets and earlier this summer she showed us some of her favorite triplet blogs, including yours of course!)

Thank you! She responded to one of my posts about Signing Time on the Triplet Connection. It's a good thing I was singing it's praises or that could have been ugly, lol. It really is a small world sometimes.

I just moved from Greenwich, CT and the library system only had two of the sound recordings. No DVD/Video recordings. I took advantage of the Community Promo and donated Vol. 1 to the local library in hopes that they would order more. My new community (Alpharetta,GA), however, has at least half of the series, so I just placed a hold on the few that I do not own  I am so excited. When the new volumes come out I will have to request for the library system to order them!

3girls mom, thanks for participating in the Build Your Signing Community program! And definitely request the new volumes in your new library (that goes for everybody out there!)

Thanks for the headsup. I know where we used to live, Harris County Library, they have tons of ST! I forgot to check our new library system , Montgomery County, but thankfully they have all ST and BST and Practice ST. They have a waiting list though.
I have been meaning to try out the Practice ST. I can't believe I haven't even viewed them once!

Call your library and complain!
(Ok, call your library and ask nicely. But, really - call them and put in a specific request that they consider carrying the complete series.)
In the meantime, I'll send them a catalog. : )

Thank you Stacey. There's a catalog in the mail heading their way. If you have other friends in your area who are ST fans, remind them to request it too!
