Alli is bringing her index finger of her dominant hand to the flat palm of her other hand, and I can't figure out what she's signing! She does this while playing, so I assume it's related to that in some way. I don't think it's MORE, because she does that as sort of a fisted clap. It sort of looks like KEY, but that doesn't fit the context. It's probably a sign off of ST 1-6 or BST, since she sees those regularly (and I assume that if it's a sign I use a lot in speech, I'd recognize it).
Any ideas?

Daniel does this too! There are several signs that he uses those handshapes that I really need to pay attention to figure out which he is really trying to sign. He does this for "candle", "key", "chalk". But he also used to sign "poop" this way until recently.

That's how Carter used to sign "help". The little ones don't always know which way to point their fingers or even which finger to point with. Let us know if you figure it out -- I'll be curious...

Daniel and I were just looking at food pictures and signing the words. He did that for "cookie". Maybe it is a universal all purpose toddler sign.

Well, she did it this morning in the library when handing me a book, so I guess in that context it might be READ (and it does sort of look like READ), but darned if I know how I was supposed to read one of her soft blocks last night???
Not only do I need a english-baby verbal dictionary, now I apparently need a ASL-toddler signing dictionary too!

Could it be 'show', as in, 'show me'? Rachel does this regularly in the song at the end of Vol 1. It might also be 'again', only with one finger instead of all four.

Don't know the sign, but my daughter does the same thing!! What I have started to do is ask her, "do you want mommy to read to you?" she shakes her head no, "do you want a cookie?" she shakes her head no and just walks away. Sometimes she will get very frustrated, but I have started to just ask her "show mommy" and sometimes she ends up wanting me to let her draw...

Could also be dance or stand...or excuse me. Hmmm....

Anyka does "Again" exactly like that.
And it is also close to the sign I learned for "popular" which is the name of a song Anyka loves (which is why we taught that one!)

Leaf? Stryker's sign for leaf sounds a lot like what you are saying.
