How do you sign "patience" or "patient"?

Make the A handshape, put your thumbnail right under your nose and drag down to your chin. Make sure it doesn't wiggle. It you wiggle it, the meaning changes to "suffer" ;)

What is the palm orientation?

palm orientation depends on which hand is your dominant hand. If you are right handed then it would be facing your left. If you are left handed then it would be facing right.
