Despite our continued efforts to sign with Corinne, she has picked up one and only one sign. I'm trying not to be discouraged... after all, she REACTS to many signs... she just doesn't sign them back. With due time, I keep telling myself.

Anyway, we just got a new video camera, so I tried to get her to sign "light" before she took her afternoon nap (so that I could play with the video while she napped). That's why she looks soooo tired! (I'm afraid I had a "stage mom" moment! :o )

Just click on the picture and enjoy! :) (Edited to make that statement clearer...thanks, ladies!)

Edited to add: I know the above version works, but I tried to post a HTML version like I used on another message board, but it wouldn't work... here's the code, if anyone can figure out why it didn't work... is it just not supported here? TIA!

This is an awesome video! She still looks young though, so don't worry - her signing will pick up. My niece will look at every sign I show her, then wave bye-bye. It was her only sign until last night, when I FINALLY got her to sign "More" and then scared her because I was so surprised I hollered "Give her more! She did it! She signed!" LOL

(Boo, video wouldn't play for me -- perhaps b/c I'm on dialup??) I will have to try from a high speed connection another day.

Too true!! She definitely will start signing. Even now, when Sophie (age 2) does a new sign, I have that same enthusiasm (she doesn't startle/scare any more ;) ). Last night she was signing for corn, which she imitated while watching ST, but never before made the food association (we give her kernel, not cob). I was SOOO excited! My DH didn't get why I was frantic to have him give her 'more corn' immediately. Turns out he forgot the sign, & didn't recognize what she was asking. Any way, look forward to many of these  moments!

Thanks for the compliments and the encouragement! I know I shouldn't compare, but I read about these one year olds with so many signs... and yes, she's still young- she just turned one one 11/17, so I need to simply be more patient! ;) Easier said than done, sometimes!

The video is too cute. You must be so excited! And I really think that babies who have multiple signs before the age of one may be the exception instead of the rule. While my boys may have understood signing earlier, both of them waited until after they were a year old to start signing back. Looks like Corinne is coming along great!
