Tonight Daniel signed "movie". So I put in a DVD that I recently checked out from the library to preview. Well, that wasn't what he wanted. He pointed up to his stack of Signing Time DVD's and signed "please"!

I guess your child is old enough to know what he wants! LOL

Today before my first class (teaching parents/kids to use ASL), I turned on the tv to get set up and realized I had left all of my ST DVD's at home after the Thanksgiving break. My daughter, who just turned 1 yesterday, saw the tv on and started signing BABY about a billion times in a row and pointing to the tv and then signing MORE BABY while looking at me very expectantly. I had to tell her I didn't have ST with us and had to placate her by putting on a ST CD instead. She definitely knows what she wants, too, and I am so thrilled she is able to communicate what that is!!!

Imani knows that hair combing time is ST time and vice versa. Sometimes she asks to have her hair combed knowing she gets ST (or rather BST these days). But lately, she has become hostile to having her hair combed so I am having to get creative.
So today I put in ST and she watched for 15 seconds or so, then began to play out of reach, so I used the remote to switch to another video. She whipped around pointed to the TV and started signing for ST. I flipped back to ST, got some hair combed and she started to wander off again. Third time I flipped from ST when she wandered off, she quit wandering off and stayed put for her hair combing.
Ah, at times being a successful mother requires masterful manipulation.
