My granddaughter, who is 3 years old, was born profoundly deaf to a hearing family. She is the only child born deaf in the immediate and extended family that we are aware of. She has been watching the Signing Times (Mom and Dad have all of them) since she was 3 months old. Her first sign at 7 1/2 months was milk. She now has bi-lateral cochlear implants and is almost up to speed with her hearing peers with her speech and comprehension. Her first implant was at the age of 15 months and her second at 25 months. She is amazing!! She still signs and is verbal and we are going to continue to use sign with her. Why not give her the opportunity to use two languages! And she still needs the sign when her implants are off, such as when she's in bed, swimming, and bathing, etc. The entire Signing Time staff is wonderful and thank you so much for such a wonderful product~!
