I was so excited that I just had to share. I have been working on the sign "food" with DS since he was 7 months old (he is 11 months now). I wanted him to learn "food" instead of "more" so that I would know what he wanted. I have a nephew that signs "more" whenever he wants something (not just food), and it has been frustrating trying to understand what he wants.
So I've signed "food" to him for months with no response. He understood what it meant when I made the sign, but he would not make the sign himself. Last night out of frustration, I switched to "more". Within 5 minutes, he signed back perfectly. I was so excited. Later that evening, he signed "food" as well.
It just blows my mind that he picked up on "more" so quickly after NOT signing "food" for so long. And to top it off, finally decided that he would sign "food" after all.
