Hi! While my dd (dear daughter, hearing) was teething, she asked for it *all* the time!! Basically you reach straight (well, arms slightly bent) out (parallel to floor) with your "5" hand (all 5 fingers splayed), and pull in towards your body while curling up your fingers (to a claw). If that confuses you (which it probably does), check out the sign in my fav online dictionary:

I have to add that my dh swears that this should be the sign for bear, as it looks to him like a bear grabbing at something. I'm amazed my dd still knows the correct signs for bear & ice! *sigh* what's a mom to do? :)

I thought ice was one of those 3 letter words that you fingerspelled for the sign..
I asked this awhile ago at a Deaf Awareness Day , (because we drink alot of ice tea.) The answer was fingerspell ICE, then sign tea.. (Left hand C-or a cup, right hand dipping F hand, as in steeping your tea bag)

In my sign language class I took, the teacher taught us "ice" like in the video clip referenced above, but that was in reference to weather. Maybe the finger spelling is in reference to the food item?
Just a thought... don't know if it's right! Hopefully someone can tell us!
Another thought... We were also taught that sign language has regional dialects, if you will... so I've noticed that a few signs on the DVDs are slightly different than what I learned in my class (from an ASL certified teacher, lest anyone think my teacher was nuts! ;) ).
Could that be the case here as well?

Janel, you hadn't responded so I was getting nervous! I'm glad you got my reference!

Ice is one of those 3 letter words that can be fingerspelled! It is also one of those signs that looks very much like the fingerspelled form. And it also looks like the action of water freezing.
