Hi NC fans,
My family plans on moving to Chapel Hill in July!! I'd love to get together with other ST (as well as TarHeel) fans! We're planning a house hunting trip the week after Easter. We are a family of 5.....my husband will be one of the Neonatal Docs at UNC, I'll be SAHM, and we have 3 children. Connor is 11, Shea is 5, and Brenna is 2. Our daughter,Shea, has Down Syndrome and that's how we were introduced to Signing Time. We love it!
Hope to be able to meet you all sometime soon....
Theresa

P.S. My 2 little ones would love to meet your little ones...it would be so nice knowing they may already have some friends in NC!! My 11 y/o is also a pretty good playmate--the little boys we know here adore him!

Hi Theresa,
Definetly feel free to contact me when you get here! I am moving to Raleigh in 2 months which is only about 1/2 hour from Chapel Hill. We relocated from up North about 3 years ago. I have a 2 year old (Joseph) and a 9 month old (Audrey). Both are hearing but we just wanted to teach them ASL for the many other benefits it has. We were introduced to Signing Time by our close friends and we are addicted! My husband works for Duke Health Raleigh Hospital as Director for Cancer Services, but my love is UNC because that's where my children were born. We depended on the neonatal docs because each of our children coded after birth. There were there in seconds! I am also home full time but previously worked as a nurse in critical care. You will love relocating to Chapel Hill. It is absolutely beautiful!!! (Also they recently opened a kid's museum on Frankin St. called Kidzu you may want to visit. It's extremely small, but the current theme is Maurice Sendak and it's really cute!) Well I've rambled on enough. Here is my contact info: chrisspargo@yahoo.com (919) 452-6333

I was so excited to see your name here and say, 'hey - I know her!!' So glad you guys love ST as much as we do!!

If you have a ST playgroup, let me know and I'll make a plan to come down from Blacksburg if you do it on a weekend!

How are you doing? How far do you live from us? I will definetly let you know if we get enough of us together to have a ST playgroup! Also, I posted a thread trying to get Rachel and crew to come down here next! Have you posted any threads in that department? Maybe they could come somewhere between us!
Remember when we saw you at Thanksgiving at your sisters and Emerson and Gianna knew a million signs? (I still tear up when I see Gianna in Zoo Train! and so anxious for the next volumes to be shipped!) Well Joseph has FINALLY caught up and now he tries to help us teach Audrey. She is 9 months but hasn't started yet. She is just starting to wave and clap so I know it won't be long. Girls are smarter, right?? :-) Ha!
How are Evan and Emerson? (and yourselves?)
Take care,
Christine

We are probably about 3 hrs from you, but I can stay at Linda's in Greensboro. Evan just started to sign 'milk' and she's 8 months! It's so exciting. Emerson tries to teach her signs too.

I don't know if any of you caught the signing time episodes on UNC TV (for us it's channel 200) last month, but I e-mailed them to see if they would start to air it regularly and they will be starting May 6th, Saturdays at 8am. So tune in! I think a visit from the crew is in order to promote the show! :)

I dont see it listed on my tv? I wonder if UNC/PBS channel is the same here?

I'm not sure of the exact station.... but I think it is the PBS station. UNC TV has a website but I didn't see signing time listed. Their e-mail response stated they would start May 6th. We'll see! We should try to get a NC signing time play group together! Is there enough of us?

Hi everyone,

I live in Raleigh and am the mom of a 17 month old son who has been signing since he was about 10 months. Would love to join a playgroup or just get together some time!

Christine - I emailed UNCTV asking them to carry Signing Time as part of their regular programming too. Funny! :) We are so thrilled that they have started showing new episodes on Saturdays.

Hey everyone! We are moving to Raleigh tomorrow. I want to schedule a Signing Time Playgroup far enough in advance for those of us who don't check the forums all the time! So how does July 15th sound? Is 3:00pm a good time? I live in Durant Trails. E-mail me for the address and you can mapquest it. I look forward to meeting everyone! ;)

Hi all,

We'll be in Chapel Hill around July 11, so we'd love to meet some other ST friends! I have 3 children ages 11,5 and 2.

We just have to meet somewhere easy to find since I'll be learning my way around......

Hope to see y'all in July!

We just moved to NC. We live about half way between Fayetteville and Sanford. I've done some signing with my son, but clearly not enough. He's 16 months old, and his signs are pretty limited to Milk, Eat, More and All Done. I'd really to do more with him, but feel like he'd get more out of a play group then he's getting with just me. I don't sign much, just what I've picked up from signing time. I'd like to join a play group if there's one forming up.

I am in Fayetteville. If you want to send me an e-mail, I can get you hooked up with a playgroup. I actually teach Signing to families with young children.

Hello..... Just wanted to remind you all that I'm having a playgroup at my house on July 15th at 3:00 for any of you who are interested in meeting each other! It will be very informal... just a chance to meet other Signing Time fans! Also.... on Saturday, July 1st at 2:00pm at the Barnes and Noble in Brier Creek Raleigh, NC my neighbor and I are hosting story time! Alana will be reading and signing Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Thanks to all of you who helped us learn the signs on other threads! :)

Christine,
That is so awesome that you are doing that! If we weren't coordinating a neighborhood garage sale this weekend, I would come down to my sister Linda's and join your playgroup!

have fun!

That would have been great! But only one person is coming anyway! :) We may possibly see you in early August!

Perfect! I can't wait either! We had a small playgroup today with Sasha and Joseph (Audrey napped for the occasion) The children were shy about signing on demand! But we all practiced some!
And Janine.... you are always welcome here.... Maybe later in the summer when so many people aren't travelling we can plan a big playgroup! We can sign books, songs, etc.!

Hi all,Sorry we missed July playgroup and story time at B&N! We've been on the road moving to Chapel Hill and I should have known how crazy it was going to be with 3 little ones. We're finally settling in and would love to get together before school starts. Anyone interested?
