Safe Kids Fair: January 12th at 3:00 p.m. at the South Towne Expo Center, located at 9575 S. State Street in Sandy, Utah. Rachel Coleman, Co-creator of Signing Time (and Leah’s mom) will have the opportunity to sing, sign and teach sign language vocabulary as part of the Safe Kids Fair. (General admission required. Utah Birth Defects Network Conference: Rachel Coleman is an amazingly inspiring speaker and shares a powerful message about her personal experiences as a mother with two children born with special needs. She offers a refreshing and positive perspective on the difficulties and joys this challenge brings. This event will happen on Saturday, January 19th at 12:00 p.m. (Attendance is free, but registration required. You can register at: www.health.utah.gov/birthdefect).

Going to Ghana, West Africa: On January 21st, The Signing Time Team, including Leah, Alex and Rachel, will head to Ghana, West Africa with Signs of Hope International. The Signing Time Team will volunteer at some deaf schools for 10 days to help with deaf education . For more information see Rachel’s blog.

OFCEC Conference: The Oklahoma Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children will be having an annual conference, where Rachel will speak to special education teachers, speech pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, university professors/students/administration about the benefits of sign language. She will share how it can be taught in the classroom as well as in the home, and how it benefits young children even before they start talking. Rachel is scheduled to speak on February 5th at 9:00 a.m. She will also conduct two breakout sessions the first beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the second beginning at 2:10 p.m. (Registration required. What: Rachel will be performing during the grand-opening of the Sunflower Farmers Market
Where: The new Sunflower Farmers Market in Murray, Utah, located at 6284 S. State Street, across from Fashion Place Mall
When: Wednesday, July 2 at 6:20 a.m.
Why: Because of the generous contributions from the Sunflower Farmers Market to the Signing Time Foundation, Rachel will be performing one or two selected songs from the award-winning series Signing Time during the grand-opening.
