SIGNING TIME! To Visit Charlemont, Massachusetts!
Signing Time names the Malone Family as winners
of the “Come To My Town” contest .
SALT LAKE CITY, UT (August 19, 2005) – Two Little Hands
Productions—creators of the award-winning Signing Time!
video and DVD series that helps babies, toddlers and young children
communicate using sign language—today announced the winners
of the “Come to My Town” contest. The winner of
the contest is the Robert & Kei Malone family of Charlemont,
MA! Signing Time is pleased to announce that Rachel de Azevedo
Coleman, co-founder of Two Little Hands Productions will be
visiting the Malone Family in Charlemont, MA October 6-9, 2005
for a series of events.
Since the Signing Time series was introduced three years ago,
the company has received numerous invitations from their fans
to visit various communities, teach sign language workshops,
have Rachel Coleman as a guest speaker or to make special guest
appearances. However, due to time constraints, it is nearly
impossible for the company to accept every invitation.
In early 2005, Signing Time came up with the idea of a contest
aptly named: “Come To My Town,” where people could
submit their story and ideas of why Signing Time should visit
their hometown. Participants were encouraged to be creative
and to consider how the visit could benefit the children and
families within their communities.
“We have been overwhelmed with the responses and incredible
stories that have been submitted in the quest for a hometown
visit from Signing Time,” said Rachel de Azevedo Coleman,
co-founder of Two Little Hands Productions. “Selecting
the winner was a difficult process, however, the Malone’s
presented ideas that were not only compelling, but that will
also have a lasting effect upon their community.
The Malone’s initially proposed a 4-day visit, with fundraising
opportunities for the Signing Time Foundation that will include
events such as: community & educational workshops, a school
assembly with the students, a family picnic for the community;
culminating with an evening of entertainment by Signing Time
and children from the local area.
"We are really excited to share the gift of Signing Time
with our friends and community. We know how valuable Rachel's
time is and appreciate the opportunity to host such an exciting
event," said Robert and Kei Malone.
“We knew from the onset, that whatever town we selected,
would be a community that has a passion for enhancing and changing
the lives of the children who live there. We are thrilled to
be visiting the Malone’s and their friends in Charlemont
and look forward to participating in the planned events,”
continued Coleman.
