Those Bugs That Bug For Years
Monday night at 4 AM we woke up to poor Leah retching in the bathroom. Is it time for those nasty bugs already? She stayed home sick. Lucy was envious… that Leah stayed home, not that Leah was sick.
If there is one thing I can say about Leah, she always makes it to the bathroom when she is sick. Somehow she makes it. I remember one time when we lived in Studio City, CA and she was only 3 years old… I noticed around lunchtime that one of her shirts was hanging up in the bathroom. I asked her how, when and why her shirt got there. She told me she woke up in the middle of the night feeling sick; she ran to the bathroom and threw up. Some accidentally got on her shirt so she took it off and rinsed it out then hung it up. LOL!! Age 3 mind you! She didn’t wake us up, just handled it and moved on. I would never have known. Come to think of it, she was convinced after that, that “salad makes kids throw up!!” She only recently started eating salads again, 7 years later.
When I was a teenager I had the flu and couldn’t eat fajitas for 4 years! They were at one time my favorite food; I still have to think twice about eating them. Another time my grandma made eggrolls, but she had taken them out of the freezer and then put them back in (BAD move) - All nine of us kids got sick and most of us still avoid eggrolls.
When, you add morning sickness to the mix there are all sorts of wacky things you can never eat again. And more than food, there are songs that make you queasy! I can’t brush my teeth with mint toothpaste or listen to Amy Grant’s “Baby Baby” without gagging. (My sister Carrie said the Amy Grant thing is warranted with or without the excuse of morning sickness) My cousin Jen can’t listen to Shawn Colvin’s “Sunny Came Home” without running to the bathroom - yeah I gave her that CD for her birthday when she was a couple of months along.
This morning Leah stated that it’s never a good idea to eat chips, salsa, chicken chili and Oreos all in one sitting… LOL - OK, I’ll just stop there.

Wow, I hope she is feeling better soon! I am still in shock she handled the first attack at the age 3! Leigha threw up for the first time this last year and it freaked her out. Are you getting any rest this week?
Ok I had a hard time reading this today! The Wednesday right after the Signing Time Live! concert I was sick with the 24 hour flu. I think my body just crashed after that. Now everything going on with my dad, not even a week after his funeral I am totally sick again. I’m sure the stress and everything broke down my immune system my sister is sick, my niece is sick, my mom is getting something too. I’m going to the doctor today. I’m guess strep throat or a sinus infection.
I hope Leah gets feeling better. It is so miserable being sick to the point of vomiting. She handles it well though, especially at 3!
Could I borrow Leah for a few days to teach my little one how to handle vomiting? I could really go for having a kid that cleans everything up and leaves me out of it!
Forget teaching the kids to clean up - I’d like to borrow her to set an example for my husband! I think I used to do the same thing though, too. Go Leah!
Hope she’s feeling better now.
