Last Minute Emmy Details
I remember the night before my wedding realizing that if I had forgotten anything or anyone, it was simply too late. There was such peace in that realization. Tonight I am packing and I feel the same way. I have done all that I can do to get this “right.”
I mentioned before that there was a part of me that was relieved to know this Emmy Award Ceremony would not be televised. Well, I just received word it WILL be on a live webcast. Not sure how I feel about that.
I am not going to dwell on it. Here’s the information for all of you!
35th Annual Daytime Creative Arts & Entertainment Emmy Awards
Friday, June 13, 2008
Live webcast begins at 6 PM ET
Leah says she will be watching and I am pretty sure my mom will be watching too.
Here’s a question, if dinner is at 4:30 and the Awards start at 7 what time should we arrive? On time? A little late? Early? I really don’t know!
As I started mentioning that I still needed a clutch or evening bag, everyone started volunteering theirs. My mom said, “Are you kidding? I have half a dozen clutches and I am sure my friends all do too!” My sisters even have them… how have I gone 33 years without a black satin clutch? I have no idea.
Do you want to see which dress I am wearing? Can you take the suspense? Or should you just tune in to the webcast? Hmmm, let me think…

Share the love Rachel, gotta see the dress! We’ll tune into the webcast no matter what! Can’t wait.

Oh please please show us! I’m not sure I can watch and I don’t think I can tivo the webcast. I’m so excited for you!
P.S. Stupid question — I read the entry about how you found out from all of the cell phone calls and stuff, but did the Emmy people actually contact you and tell you you were nominated? Or do they just release the list and you find out indirectly when they released the list?

Good luck! I’m sure you will look fabulous!
If it makes you feel any better, I don’t have a clutch either. I bought a new purse about 2 years ago. My husband said, “Don’t you already have one of those?” referring to the purse I had had since my sophomore year of college! lol

Ditto on the clutch: I don’t have a clutch or an evening bag either. Somehow I’ve made it this far without one, and I’m typically seen lugging around a giant backpack carrying everything from diapers to sunscreen to first aid to bug spray…it’s just more practical.
I hope our Emmy experience is a great one. We all are itching to see photos and hear all about it! Have fun!

Best of luck to you and safe travels to the East coast! We’ll keep our fingers crossed for a win!! And, as far as the clutch goes…. Do you know how many women accidentally leave them on dinner tables, in bathrooms or even in their cars? While beautiful and certainly useful, their small footprint can lead them to be forgotten–and that is the real reason some women avoid them while others have more than one.
Hee..hee…

Unless the clutch was magical like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag, I’d never be able to use one. I carry so much stuff around with me that somehow I cannot live without. My purses have to be big enough to carry my wallet, lip gloss, mirror, travel brush, mini sewing kit, compact camera, a compact, checkbook, throat lozenges, tylenol, batteries, emergency cell phone charger, misc items, and at least one Signing Time dvd volume.(You never know who you will meet that you can give one to!) I don’t think they make clutches big enough for all that. LOL!
I’m tuning in to the webcast~ I have set the alarm on my phone to remind me. I wouldn’t miss it for anything!!!!
And I still say post the picture of you holding your Emmy!!!! I’m visualizing it! You know we all are!

P.S. My husband wants to know if you are going to wear the colored tape on your fingers? (maybe sparkly tape for the special occasion?)

Oh that’s just mean! How can you torture us like this? Patience may be a virtue but it’s one I have not cultivated.
Now my question is…will you sign your acceptance speech? And no, this is not putting the cart before the horse. You’re going to win, duh. Plus, everyone know that “oh-my-I-didn’t-think-I-was-going-to-win-but-here-is-my-prepared-speech-thing” is simply acting. Like boyscouts, Emmy nominees must be prepared.

Good luck Rachel! You will look beautiful no matter what you choose tomorrow. I can’t wait to watch it and see what you chose to wear!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
