Honestly, I don't really pay attention to the award shows, but knowing that you did not win brings me down a little. However, just knowing that those big wigs are recognizing you and your work makes me feel good. I only discovered Signing Time within the last year (as a Deaf Studies minor, I wanted to see what a show called 'Signing Time' was all about) and have been completely impressed the whole time. I am 27 and enjoy watching your shows as much as my kids do. Congratulations on the nomination and keep up your wonderful work.

Rachel, [I also sent this e-mail to Two Hands]

Wow! Do I feel dumb now!! Thank you so much for posting on our family blog [www.themarchantadventures.blogspot.com] and I apologize for not really thinking it was you. With our crazy, busy, big-empire-business-based world today, I naturally figured it was an assistant or intern sending a general response. I was SO EXCITED to get the first comment and even MORE EXCITED to see it was really you. I must tell you -- You made my day and that personal touch is an amazing show of your generosity!

As I stated, we LOVE the show and are so grateful for all the work you and your team do to make it possible. Whenever my son is signing, I always attribute his knowledge to Signing Time and recommend it to any new parent I meet. I have a friend from California and family in Southern Utah who now love it too! I have both grandmas sold on the concepts and they watch it to see what our son is learning next.

We were excited to see you were here in Las Vegas in May. Unfortunately, we had some conflicting activities and were unable to make it to the show. We will look forward to future visits -- and might have to apologize in person!

Thank you for the personal touch & the effort that you put in everyday to bring these concepts to real life. You have truly been blessed with an amazing talent -- thanks for sharing it with the rest of us!

Thanks again,

You looked beautiful. I am sorry you didn't win, but as it has been mentioned you are a winner to so many people. I don't want to think about what it would be like here if we hadn't found Signing Time! and ASL. We are happy to watch you, Alex and Leah all the time, and look forward to next year when you will be nominated and win. :)

I have never felt so personally invested in a silly award ceremony in my life -- I am amazed at how disappointed I am, just an avid fan from a distant state. Congratulations on the nomination, and you are a winner in so many people's hearts and minds. And glad you got some fabulous out on the town time in New York City out of the deal! It is so amazing how your lives are shaped by Signing Times and how much you have in turn shaped others' lives.

Ughhhhh, bummer. But what is clearly more important than that tiny gold statue is that you looked H-O-T at the banquet. Now that's a night to remember! That and the fact that you allow us to engage with our children. Can you imagine a better life's work? I cannot thank you enough for giving me the ability to understand my 2 year old daughter when the chemo began robbing her of her hearing. Those moments are priceless to me and it's all because of you. Now, let's hear/see that acceptance speech!

I love your dress, and you look amazing - you were definitely the coolest nominee in any category!

Being nominated for an Emmy is more than almost anyone can say in their lifetime. Emmy or no, I hope you realize how much of a difference your show makes to kids like mine, and to parents like me, who tune in every week, and endure nearly non-stop renditions of the opening sequence of "SIGNING TIME ALEX LEAH HOPPIN!" (which is how my 20-month old sings it). Thanks for such a great show!
