- A Great Start to the Series Review by Stacy
-
Entertainment Value Price Educational Value Quality of Product Based on some of the reviews for the Series 2, I was a little skeptical about purchasing them. But I wanted to learn more, and we loved Series 1 and BST. So I dived in and started buying Series 2.
I feel those reviews for Series 2 were a bit off base, but you can’t please everyone. This one is great! I love that you are learning sentences and not just single objects or single words. “Nice to Meet You" has great songs and information. Rachel started this new part throughout the series “What Time is it?” and it is a nice change of pace with Story Time, Counting Time, ABC Time, Game Time and Move/Groove Time. Some of those are a bit repetitive, but again most kids need that. A great start to the series!
The only critique that I have, if I could be so bold, is she doesn’t sign as many words as she did in the other series. Like when she sings a song, before in BST & Series 1 she would sign all through it and now I have noticed that she only signs the words that you learn in the dvd. I feel that is a bit backwards since the kids that are watching this are probably older and would get more out of it, learning more signs verses when they were babies. Since repetition is good, then at least sign the words previously learned from the first series.
Still, loved this one and would highly reccommend it :)

- Grandparent Learns Sign, Too Review by Anna Benavides

Educational Value Entertainment Value Quality of Product Price I have a 3 year old grandson and I DVR Signing Time every week and Brandon loves to watch them and we both practice. Brandon can sign the alphabet faster than me and knows most of the signs already. He is a special needs child and this is one of his favorite shows. His little sister who is one and a half dances to the opening lines and knows some signs already, please, more, and thank-you. This show has really helped the family become more familiar with signing. Keep up the great work! Thank-you

- No More Tantrums Review by Jennifer Smart
-
Educational Value Entertainment Value Quality of Product Price I began signing with my son right after he turned a year old due to a sever speech delay. He was only say a few words and he was having sever temper tantrums. I did not know a lot of sign language so we found the Signing Time videos online and ordered the Baby Signing Time series to start with. Just to see how he did with them. He caught on very fast. The videos were entertaining so they kept his attention. We eventually ordered all of the videos. My son is almost 3 now and, even though he still does not have a very big spoken vocabulary, his signing vocabulary is tremendous. The tantrums (other than the normal "I did not get what I want tantrums) have all but stopped. He is able to asked for what he wants and we can understand him, so he does not get frustrated. He knows his complete alphabet, his numbers 1 -10 and his colors. I would recommend buying the videos to anyone with a child whether they have a child with a disability or not. They are a great learning tool for any child.

- We communicate because of Signing Time Review by Jenniferbel Goebel

Educational Value Entertainment Value Quality of Product Price I have always been interested in baby sign language since I have worked as a childcare provider for many years. However, I was never really motivated to learn any signs other than the basics...more, all done, milk. When my son was around two and he still hadn't started talking we were told to start signing with him and to do hand over hand signing with him while we were in the process of diagnosing him. Fortunately he is able to hear but still not talking...but he is signing because of these videos! I can't believe how much sign language I have learned and remembered from watching these videos! The songs that they sign after each section of words is great because I try to sing along with the song using the signs I just was taught. They are fun, not cheesy at all, and face enough paced that I as an adult don't get bored yet slow enough so my son caught on. Even my 6 year old has begun watching them. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to learn some beginner signs with or without kids. May I say Silly Pizza song in Time to Eat video is the best. Thank You. Jen

Quality of Product Price Educational Value Entertainment Value I so enjoy learning right along with my 15 month old. She learns the signs from Baby Signing Time quickly and loves the music too. We have the CD and play it often. I love trying to remember the signs to sing with the music and am getting quite good at it! I think this Mom is going to keep learning and my little one shares my enthusiasm! Wonderful product. Very well done. A joy to watch and learn!

- No more frustrations Review by Erin Davis

Educational Value Entertainment Value Quality of Product Price I love these videos!!! My daughter is 13 months old and we recently discovered "Signing Time". I've read so much about teaching babies ASL, how it can help reduce tantrums and frustration, and it REALLY has! My daughter doesn't speak yet but now signs when she wants to eat or more milk, when she's done, "Thank you" and so much more! It has TOTALLY lessened both of our frustrations!

- We Watch Everyday Review by Anna Maldzhiev

Entertainment Value Quality of Product Price Educational Value I had been teaching my daughter since birth ASL, and she caught on and started signing back a week after her first birthday. But, I didn't know how to find anymore signs to continue to expand her signing "vocab" (I had a book, ASL Baby Signing for Dummies)
We heard about Signing Time from a friend from church and went to the library to check them out. We instantly fell in love with it! She now signs "time" whenever she wants to watch. Though I don't give in every time - we still end up watching a different Signing Time video about once a day.
My daughter has no impairments with her hearing or learning, but it is the best thing to be able to communicate with her even though she can't form words yet. She is now almost 18 months, and recognizes and TON of signs, and can sign almost 140 signs.
This program is the best I have seen! Thank you to Rachel and Leah and Alex for bringing so much enjoyment to signing!(Posted on 1/10/08)
- Signing Time is truly a Godsend. Review by Carolyn Johnson

Educational Value Entertainment Value Quality of Product Price We rented the first two volumes over the summer, just for something fun to teach the kids during vacation. I only taught my older two boys the signs. Then a few months later, our doctor mentioned that our daughter may be autistic. At two, she was barely saying any words. However, she had picked up several of the signs on her own! Our library has the entire collection, and our daughter loves watching them. It has made all of our lives so much easier because she now has a way of "talking" without speaking. The videos are put together so nicely that everyone enjoys watching them. I'm so glad that we stumbled across the first two that day; they've truly been a Godsend!
