  1. We love ST here in India (homes for abandoned children with neuro special needs) Review by sarahbess

Most of our children are nonverbal, and we looked for a way to give them a voice. I love Rachel's heart; her songs often make me teary. I love how the videos show children of all abilities--kids in wheelchairs, kids with hearing aids, kids without these things, all interacting together.

Our kids don't understand English, but they definitely get the point--they understand what concept is being presented with each sign. The English is an added bonus.

My own daughters and I enjoy using Signing Time in our homeschool as well, and they love to play the DVDs in their free time as well.

I have to say that it's been more than two years since I heard about ST and I ordered to baby ST to test it out I loved them so much that for Christmas I ordered series one and to this point my son still loves them I do too. He has been trying really hard to communicate with everyone around him he is my little one who is 3 going on 4 soon he has DS and I am glad he loves to watch ST and that the school uses it everyday. Well I am glad to say that he has over 25 signs and understands much more I know many others have a greater success with signing but I don't know were we would be with out it maybe only at 5 signs or something. I am waiting for this Christmas to order the next series I cant wait for that I know my son will love them thank you to all that are involved in the making or ST and I would love them to see them in different languages. I have a 3 year that was autism. We have been working with C.D.C And they let us borrow the signing time movies. And after having him watching it a few times he just stared to pick up words now. He has 88 words now. I feel that I have my little boy back we love signing times. He only wants to watch signing times! Thank you so much!!!! (Posted on 5/11/09)

Hi, thanks for making this wonderful series. It's benefitting kids the country over, I'm sure. I dont allow my kids to watch TV so I have to say we never saw this series being aired on TV. However I'm teaching my four kids (ages 1, 3, 5 and 7) from home how to speak Spanish and ASL.

I was using some random resources and supplementing with the occasional VHS/DVD from the library as far as I knew, there wasn't a series of videos that were worth buying.

I love that this series provides a more colorful, engaging approach to vocabulary and even in the later disks makes an effort at themes but the pace for each DVD is rather slow and my kids get bored, not with the language but with the SsssLOoowwww pace at which each sign is given they no longer like watching the disks. I tried putting the series away for a few weeks and then bringing out one DVD at a time according to their interests but that didn't work either. My 3 year old likes the series okay but he too gets bored that the words are so slow to come and he gets frustrated that mommy cant easily rewind to just his favorite signs during the show. So maybe a Signing Time video DVD dictionary in which you can select each sign like you do scenes for a regular movie DVD would be good for them.

I dont know why exactly but my 1 year old hates the videos. I thought he'd like them but Sully doesn't like them at all. MY 7 and 5 year are more interested in ASL as a language and so they put in a real effort but I'm sorry to say that they knew most of the vocab this first series had to offer already. I feel like I totally wasted 200+ bucks. I wont be bothering with series 2 or Baby Signing Time, which I feel will be an equal waste of time. (Posted on 4/26/09)

I am currently a college student studying special education. When I was observing a sped classroom, the students would watch a signing time video at the end of each day. They would sing along and loved them. I got hooked and interested in learning more that I asked for the set for christmas. I may get made fun of by my roommates when I walk around signing and singing the songs, but it is super fun and I have learned so much!! Thank you signing time!! (Posted on 4/2/09)

My beautiful granddaughter was born with disabilities. We have had to teach her everything from sitting-up to playing and running. One thing she was not picking up on was language. As a result she would become frustrated that we could not understand what she wanted to tell us. She would lash out by biting her little arms. They were covered with so many bite marks you couldn’t even count them. I started signing with her when she was two and was surprised that she was picking it up. She didn’t always sign perfectly but enough so that we could figure out what she wanted. It was slow going but once we found ‘Signing Time’ a few months ago, she absolutely loves it and is learning so fast now. Once in a great while we’ll find a single bite mark or maybe two. THANK YOU Rachel, Alex and Leah! (Posted on 1/28/09)

Wow, what a wonderful learning tool for my daughter Monet'. She just loves Baby Signing Time...she sings it everyday sometimes she even uses the tunes from the songs and makes up her own words.
I find her doing the signs with her dolls and even the dogs! The DVD's even help our entire family! My husband is very interested in the DVD's, we find ourselves deeply tuned in whenever Monet' watches (which is almost everyday).
We as a whole family want to thank everyone who helped make BST possible, and Rachel you are beautiful and have a great spirit! Thank you again-- we tell everyone about Baby Signing Time. Oh by the way Diaper Dance is our favorite...my daughter is well out of diapers, however insists on wearing one during that song...the whole family dances atround in their undies...TMI lol!! My daughter and I started searching for help when my grandson was diagnosed with needing an umbilical cord blood stem cell transplant, and we were told that he may never be able to speak. Luckily, we came across your signing CDs through a friend at Mayo Clinic. The transplant was done when Brody was age 11 months, and shortly after, we started teaching him signs with the help of your CDs. We found your presentation both easy to understand and fun for him. He loved the songs and started learning by singing and dancing along. He is now 6 years old, in kindergarten, and talking up a storm with very little impairment at all. He still uses an occasional sign. To us, your efforts in creating these CDs has been a miracle and an absolute true blessing. Thank you! (Posted on 12/27/08)

I began Signing with my son at 4 mos and he started producing his first sign (Milk) at 6 mos but I thought it was just coincidence. Until I stopped doing it and then he then stopped too. So off we went with more signs and he is now 14 mos and signing over 70 words. Its amazing how much we are able to communicate with him and enjoy to not only see his delight in things but actually see him tell us what it is that is putting a smile on his face. thank you for helping me reinforce his signs.
