- LOVE This Series!!!! Review by Brewer Boys' Mama

Entertainment Value Price Educational Value Quality of Product This series is absolutely AMAZING! I grew up learning ASL from my grandma to help me sign with my deaf second cousin. I also studied ASL in college. When my first son was born I wanted to teach him as well. I found these DVDs at my local library, and we both loved watching them together. He began signing back to me at 5 months and has always had a very large vocabulary. He's now 4, and people often comment on how well he speaks.
Now that my second son is 6 months old I am looking forward to signing with him as well. Along the way I stopped signing with my older son, so he forgot a lot. He has shown a renewed interest in signing as he sees me signing with the baby, so I knew I had to find these DVDs again. I decided to buy them this time for the convenience factor.
The format is very engaging. The songs are fun - even for me - and really reinforce the signs being taught. My 4 year old still enjoys watching these and is very motivated to learn more signs so he can help teach his brother. I hope to continue signing with both of them, so they can continue this skill.
Thank you to everyone at Signing Time for sharing yourselves with me and my boys! We all love watching!!!(Posted on 11/27/11)

Entertainment Value Price Educational Value Quality of Product I can not say enough about Signing Time and what it has done for my grandson and our entire family. We have been watching these DVD's since he was 5 mos. old. by the time he was 9 mos old he could sign farm animals, zoo animals as well as what he wanted to eat and when he was full. By the time he was 1 yr. he knew, used and understood over 300 signs. We were able to communicate with him concerning the things he saw: clothing, food, animals, birds, fish etc. Series one was great. He is now 2 1/2 and he still loves to learn from Series 2.

Quality of Product Entertainment Value Price Educational Value I was a PCA for two years and the little girl LOVED Signing Time. When I had my own baby, I had to find them again!
Brenna watches them and does almost every sign - she's only 16mo old. My husband was blown away by how quickly she learned.
Thank you for creating these videos. We are excited to get more of them.(Posted on 3/14/10)
- Signing Time is THE BEST!!!! Review by Ashley Greenway

Educational Value Quality of Product Entertainment Value Price My husband and I were both interested in learning to sign and teaching our child to sign just because it is a blessing to learn a different language and a gift to teach someone a new language for them and for others (in this case other hearing impaired people). We heard of Signing Time from someone in the family whose daughter used it and loved it! So we bought the first series immediately! We started when my daughter was 17 months old with Signing Time...before we heard of Signing Time, when she was 9 months we used other programs that weren't as entertaining nor did they teach enough in one video. Once we started Signing Time she couldn't get enough of them and neither could we. She is now 22 months old and knows almost 500 signs. She can sign close to 400 signs. In the beginning, it was really helpful for when she wanted us to know something and wouldn't know how to say it, she could sign it! Now, that she can talk and talk well, we are learning there are so many more benefits besides just communicating! It is AMAZING!!! It has helped her vocabulary to grow plus she can count to 10, plus recognize the numbers, knows her ABC's in two languages, and she knows her colors...all from Signing Time!!! We are so excited about Signing Time and so encouraged by it and its results that we want to become fluent in ASL as well as teach our daughter too! Thank you so much Rachel and your family for getting motivated for Leah and being fluent and then creating this wonderful program. I know our family has had tons of blessings from Leah's precious life and her families decisions to want to teach anyone interested! Thank you!

Educational Value Quality of Product Entertainment Value Price We are on a strict budget and find it hard to purchase the dvd's. My kids love the program though. We used to watch it on PBS until it was taken off the air. We'll have to save up and purchase one at a time I guess.

Entertainment Value Price Educational Value Quality of Product Most of our children are nonverbal, and we looked for a way to give them a voice. I love Rachel's heart; her songs often make me teary. I love how the videos show children of all abilities--kids in wheelchairs, kids with hearing aids, kids without these things, all interacting together.
Our kids don't understand English, but they definitely get the point--they understand what concept is being presented with each sign. The English is an added bonus.

My own daughters and I enjoy using Signing Time in our homeschool as well, and they love to play the DVDs in their free time as well.

Price Educational Value Quality of Product Entertainment Value I have to say that it's been more than two years since I heard about ST and I ordered to baby ST to test it out I loved them so much that for Christmas I ordered series one and to this point my son still loves them I do too. He has been trying really hard to communicate with everyone around him he is my little one who is 3 going on 4 soon he has DS and I am glad he loves to watch ST and that the school uses it everyday. Well I am glad to say that he has over 25 signs and understands much more I know many others have a greater success with signing but I don't know were we would be with out it maybe only at 5 signs or something. I am waiting for this Christmas to order the next series I cant wait for that I know my son will love them thank you to all that are involved in the making or ST and I would love them to see them in different languages.

Entertainment Value Price Educational Value Quality of Product Hi, thanks for making this wonderful series. It's benefitting kids the country over, I'm sure. I dont allow my kids to watch TV so I have to say we never saw this series being aired on TV. However I'm teaching my four kids (ages 1, 3, 5 and 7) from home how to speak Spanish and ASL.
I was using some random resources and supplementing with the occasional VHS/DVD from the library as far as I knew, there wasn't a series of videos that were worth buying.
I love that this series provides a more colorful, engaging approach to vocabulary and even in the later disks makes an effort at themes but the pace for each DVD is rather slow and my kids get bored, not with the language but with the SsssLOoowwww pace at which each sign is given they no longer like watching the disks. I tried putting the series away for a few weeks and then bringing out one DVD at a time according to their interests but that didn't work either. My 3 year old likes the series okay but he too gets bored that the words are so slow to come and he gets frustrated that mommy cant easily rewind to just his favorite signs during the show. So maybe a Signing Time video DVD dictionary in which you can select each sign like you do scenes for a regular movie DVD would be good for them.
I dont know why exactly but my 1 year old hates the videos. I thought he'd like them but Sully doesn't like them at all. MY 7 and 5 year are more interested in ASL as a language and so they put in a real effort but I'm sorry to say that they knew most of the vocab this first series had to offer already. I feel like I totally wasted 200+ bucks. I wont be bothering with series 2 or Baby Signing Time, which I feel will be an equal waste of time.(Posted on 4/26/09)

Price Educational Value Quality of Product Entertainment Value I am currently a college student studying special education. When I was observing a sped classroom, the students would watch a signing time video at the end of each day. They would sing along and loved them. I got hooked and interested in learning more that I asked for the set for christmas. I may get made fun of by my roommates when I walk around signing and singing the songs, but it is super fun and I have learned so much!! Thank you signing time!!
