Thank you for Sign It!

Thank you so much for providing this resource! We started learning “baby signs” when my oldest daughter was a baby. She loves sign language! Our second daughter was diagnosed with hearing loss and got BAHA hearing aids around 1 year old. So I applied for Sign It and started learning ASL. My older daughter loves watching Signing Time and watching me doing Sign It. We enjoy the lesson style with stories. For the quizzes, I let her guess what is being signed. I find it really helpful when Rachel explains what the sign looks like, or why it is what …

Does Baby Sign Language Reduce Tantrums?

What Causes Tantrums Dealing with tantrums can be overwhelming and disheartening. The frustration and heightened emotions that result from tantrums often bring unintended discord between you and your child. 5 Great Reasons To Sign in Your Classroom

Signing is a powerful tool for behavior management in the classroom. Signing requires eye contact, which automatically helps draw students’ attention to the teacher. When teachers use signs to cue transitions and new activities, students will be prepared to look and listen for new directions. Signing can help students stay actively engaged — and quiet — as they move through the hallways. Signing is an effective tool for helping younger students calm down. Signs require large, slow movements or repetitive, melodic actions, which have a natural flow and calming effect on children. Teachers who sign in their classrooms report that …
