Cup in Sign Language
Learn how to sign cup in ASL (American Sign Language) so you can encourage this “big kid!” item at meal and snack times.
- Bring one hand up about chest height, palm up.
- With the other hand, make a c-shape and tap the side of the pinky a few times on the opposite flat hand.

- Basic sign language for babies, toddlers, and children should start with everyday items. Cup is a great one to begin with because they will use a cup many times a day. Sign cup each time you offer a drink, or your child asks for one.
- Talk to your child about favorite things that go in a cup. Juice? Milk? Water?
