Teaching Tips – to learn how to sign paper in ASL
- Practice signing paper and your colors! Cut construction paper of different colors into flashcard sized squares. As you show each one, ask your child to sign both the color and the word paper. So, she might say, “I see green paper!” Signing green, and paper.
- Create art games for kids using paper mache. Find a simple recipe online that uses glue or flour and water. Blow up a balloon and encourage your child to cover the balloon using tissue paper. Create something wonderful – a silly face, the globe, a favorite character, etc. Encourage your child to talk about their creation and process, supported by signing paper (and any other signs you know that fit in!)
