N in sign Language

Learn how to sign the letter N in ASL. Learning the ABC’s are a key foundation to early literacy!

1. Fold your pointer, middle, ring, and pinky finger down into your palm and stick your thumb up right between the middle and ring finger.
2. Imagine an arc over the ring and pinky finger, like the arc on a lower case N. Use this visual to help you remember the sign.

Teaching Tips:

• Lighten things up while the kids are with you while running errands. Tell them to look for the letter N printed on signs and packages and to sign it each time they spot one.
• Alphabet games for kids make learning fun. Sign a letter and have the children sing, shout, or whisper the letter they see.
