Excerpt from “Television show leads to talking miracle” by Susan Jones of the St. Albert Gazette featuring Signing Time Academy Instructor Shelley Wywal. I was first introduced to Signing Time when the mother of a close friend of mine married a man who is deaf. My friend really wanted her children to be able to communicate with their new grandpa, so she started using Signing Time – and introduced me to it, too. Music has always been a very big part of my life. I believe music has the …

Colorado Signing Time fans get a double dose of Rachel Live!

by Kyle Stielow, Signing Time Academy International Associate Director – Midwest Region During the holidays last year, I kept reading about all the wonderful Signing Time concerts with Rachel Coleman. With our 17 Signing Time Instructors here in Colorado, I thought, “We can do this!” I also thought that since the state is divided by the Rocky Mountains, we should do two events – one for the western slope and one for the front range. Then I went a little crazy (OK, a lot crazy!) and decided that since families may be driving a long way, why not put on …

Making a Difference – Our Adoption Journey

Dear Signing Time Friends, Our family sincerely thanks you for what you have done for us. Your DVDs, board books, and flashcards have been such a blessing in our lives. We already have five biological children. When people ask us why we wanted to adopt, the answer is simple.  There are so many children who need a home and love and want to give back, but do not have a …

This post is by Master Signing Time Instructor Joyce Edmiston, and is part of our Making a Difference series.   For the last two years, I have been teaching American Sign Language (ASL) classes at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Harrisburg, PA.  The school has a preschool as well as a K-8 program with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds and religions.
