Benefits of Signing

Teachers team up with DonorsChoose.org to make a difference – with Signing Time!

Michelle Francis, a teacher in Layton, Utah, posted this video  to the Signing Time Facebook page the other day and asked if we recognized the song her students were singing – and signing – in the video. Do you recognize it? (Hint: It’s a really “silly” song!) Michelle is making a difference in her students lives with the help of DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that helps teachers get donations for specific classroom resources. She asked for – and got – an amazing collection of Signing Time materials, including most of the Series 1 DVDs, all of the Series 2 DVDs, …

Does Sign Language Really Help Babies?

What a great question! Many times we are asked here at Signing Time if learning sign language really can help kids and/or babies communicate better, read better or have higher IQs. I’m going to speak from my own experience and link to a few resources that might help you decide how you feel about these great questions. I’m a father of 4 and have taught sign language, using Signing Time, to my two youngest daughters since they were a few months old. Ok… so let’s be real, my wife has done most of the teaching while I’m here working to help make Signing …

Interactive Sign Language Site

I ran across this very cute interactive website that not only talks about the benefits of using sign language with young children, but actually provides an interactive sign language dictionary. According to the website, the Babystrology Baby Sign Language Video Dictionary is a fun and free way to learn some basic American Sign Language (ASL) signs that can help you teach your baby. It is also fun to use as a practice tool. Many people have sent us questions regarding the benefits of teaching their babies sign language. When I first started working at Two Little Hands Productions, I remember …

Signing helped my baby “show off” her personality

We have been signing with our daughter Afton since she was seven months old. She’s now 21 months and usually speaks the words she’s signing as well. This often leads to confusion about why we sign with her if she’s not deaf. Truth be told, I thought the same thing before I joined the team at Two Little Hands Productions last year and we started using Signing Time with our kids. Prior to Signing Time, we were completely “signless.” But once we started signing with Afton, my wife and I, as well as the older kids quickly caught on so …

Using Signing Time to make a difference in the world

I get the privilege of reading the wonderful things people are up to on the Signing Time forums, and have the opportunity to read through some incredibly heart-felt and inspiring testimonials that are submitted. I have also become acquainted with many of our fans through our weekly Wednesday night chats. I am inspired when I read blogs where people share their amazing journeys.
