Baby Sign Language Success

I just have to say thank you to the Signing Time family. My daughter absolutely adores your videos and has taken to signing better than we could have ever hoped for. It became evident to me when my husband was speaking to her and then added the sign for what he was saying. Her face just lit up as if to say, “so I really did get it”. We cannot thank you enough for the joy you’ve brought into our home with an increased ability to communicate with our baby!  Kelly

Smart Media Choices for Your Child

Media is pervasive and prevalent in our society. Our job as parents is to teach our children to be wise consumers of media. What your child can and should watch depends on their age and maturity level, but there are some guidelines you can follow at just about any age. What to avoid… No media in a child’s bedroom – keep media use to open family spaces. No live newscasts as these are not geared towards children and may contain graphic and disturbing imagery and words. Don’t allow content that focuses on violence or adult themes. Autism, Failed Hearing Test, and Communication Breakthrough

We appreciate our Signing Time families and we love hearing YOUR stories. We wanted to share this one with YOU! Happy Signing! Thank you for empowering me to communicate more fully with my babies. We started using Signing Time nine years ago when our oldest was 6-months old. It opened the door for understanding each other. By 18-months our son understood, and was using, over 200 signs. Years later, we came to learn that he is on the autistic spectrum. I think one of the reasons I dismissed the possibility of autism was that communication and language were so important to him. …

Baby Sign Language for Better Communication

Meet Paula Baker, Signing Time Academy Instructor Almost three years ago I found out I was going to be a mother, and naturally, I began to research parenting techniques in hopes of raising a well rounded human. Down I went into the rabbit-hole and quickly discovered that parenting advice is incredibly detailed and varied. However, one piece of advice that remained constant was the need for communication. A child’s desire to be understood is tremendous, almost as important as his/her desire to be loved. Being able to express basic needs, wants, and emotions is so difficult for a non-verbal, and …
